In a move that reflects the cultural rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and China, the National Museum of China in Beijing is hosting an art exhibition highlighting the aesthetics of contemporary Saudi art.

"Poetic Illuminations"... a window into Saudi creativity
The National Museum of China has opened its doors to visitors to discover an exhibition titled "Art of the Kingdom: Poetic Illuminations," which reflects the pulse of the modern art movement in Saudi Arabia through diverse, contemporary works.

Artworks celebrating the desert and identity
The exhibition features nearly 50 carefully selected artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and installations. These pieces focus on two main themes: the desert as a source of inspiration, and cultural heritage as the root of Saudi identity.

Cultural cooperation between Riyadh and Beijing
This artistic event is the fruit of a partnership between the Saudi Museums Authority and the National Museum of China, and is part of the Saudi-Chinese Cultural Year 2025 program, which aims to enhance knowledge and artistic exchange between the two countries.
Exhibition date and location
The exhibition will run from July 31, 2025, to October 30, 2025, providing audiences in China with a rare opportunity to explore the Saudi creative scene through the lens of contemporary art.
A step towards a deeper cultural dialogue
The exhibition highlights how art can serve as a bridge between peoples, presenting a visual narrative that evokes feelings of belonging and nostalgia, while simultaneously reflecting the evolution of the Saudi art scene and its ability to connect with global cultures.
