The Citizen Account Program clarified, via its official account on the X platform (formerly Twitter), that a wife can register as a primary beneficiary in the program in specific cases that allow her to benefit from the allocated support.
Citizen's account
Cases that allow the wife to register as the primary beneficiary:
If the husband is incapacitated: If the husband is unable to manage his personal or financial affairs.
If the husband is absent for a long period: If the husband is absent from home for an extended period.
If the husband is imprisoned: If the husband is in prison for a certain period, which prevents him from managing his account.
Marriage of a Saudi woman to a non-Saudi man: If a woman marries a non-Saudi man, she will be responsible for managing her account in the support program.
The Citizen Account confirmed that these cases grant the wife the right to manage the support account independently and receive the financial allocations allocated by the program.
This step comes within the framework of the program's keenness to facilitate families' access to support according to their specific circumstances.
The Citizen Account Program is a Saudi government program launched in December 2017 to support low- and middle-income Saudi families, helping them cope with the potential impact of economic reforms in the Kingdom, such as increases in fuel, electricity, and water prices, and the implementation of value-added tax.
The program aims to achieve social justice by providing direct financial support to eligible families.
Citizen Account Program Objectives
Supporting low- and middle-income families: Providing direct financial support to the neediest families.
Mitigating the impact of economic reforms: Supporting Saudi citizens to face any financial burdens that may arise from price increases or economic changes.
Achieving social justice: ensuring that financial support is distributed fairly based on household income and family size.
Raising community awareness: Providing citizens with the opportunity to monitor how economic reforms impact them.
How the program works
Registration: Saudi citizens can register their data in the program through the Citizen Account electronic portal.
Evaluation: After registration, applicants' eligibility for support is assessed based on family income and family size.
Payment: Funds are transferred to eligible beneficiaries' bank accounts on a monthly basis.
Beneficiary groups
Low and middle income families.
Individuals who live independently, such as students and the unemployed.
A family with children.
Groups with disabilities or whose members need special support.
Registration and Updates
The Citizen Account allows citizens to update their data on an ongoing basis to ensure the accuracy of the information used to calculate their monthly entitlement.
The program can also calculate support based on eligible categories, such as adding or removing family members, or adjusting family income based on changes that occur.
