The Saudi Ministry of Health, via its official account on the X platform, issued a number of preventative guidelines for parents and teachers, aimed at protecting students with chronic diseases while they are in the school environment, as the new school year approaches.
Recommendations for protecting students
The Ministry emphasized the importance of the role parents play in monitoring their children's health by:
Ensure that the student carries an identification card showing his health condition.
Inform the school of all details related to the chronic illness.
Provide a list of medications used and their methods of use.
Providing emergency numbers for quick communication when needed.
Alert the school to dangerous symptoms that should be watched for.
Notify the school of any urgent changes in the student's health condition.
Recommendations for teachers
The Ministry of Health also stressed the importance of educational staff being aware of the special health conditions of some students, and of following the following procedures:
Identify the health status of each infected student.
Reducing physical activity for students with asthma or other chronic diseases.
Providing safe alternatives to extreme sports activities.
Do not refuse a student's requests to go to the bathroom or use medication.
Respond quickly to any emergency signs indicating the student's deteriorating condition.
Awareness-based prevention
These recommendations are part of the Ministry of Health's efforts to promote a safe and inclusive educational environment that allows all students, including those with chronic illnesses, to fully integrate and participate in the educational process without any health risks.
At the end of its statement, the ministry called for raising health awareness in schools and for close cooperation between families and educational institutions to ensure the health and safety of students.
