Engineer Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Majthal, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Asir, revealed that the region leads the Kingdom in honey production, accounting for more than 20% of national production. He pointed out that there are more than 73 Saudi beekeepers working in this sector, which receives government support exceeding XNUMX million riyals.

These statements came during a visit by the ministry's team to the site of the project to establish queen bee breeding and package production stations in Namas Governorate. This project is the first of its kind in the region. The project's completion rate has reached more than 72%, reflecting the remarkable progress in this vital sector.

Engineer Al-Majthal explained that this project aims to preserve the local bee breed while enhancing its productivity, reflecting the ministry's commitment to supporting local producers and increasing job opportunities in this field. He added that the planned center will enhance bee production capacity and ensure the year-round availability of its products, reducing reliance on imports and enhancing food security in the Kingdom.
Engineer Al Majthal emphasized that the state, may God protect it, pays great attention to the honey sector, implementing knowledge programs and development projects that contribute to raising the quality of local products. He pointed out that this project will enhance the production of natural local honey, known for its high quality and good reputation locally and globally, thus contributing to achieving sustainable development in rural areas.
