The 1447 AH Umrah season witnessed a remarkable turnout from around the world, with the number of pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah increasing by more than 10% compared to the previous season. This growth reflects the Kingdom's status as a leading religious destination and its ability to welcome increasing numbers of pilgrims through an integrated system of services and facilities.
Increase in the number of pilgrims
Official indicators show that the increase included arrivals on various types of visas, whether for Umrah or for tourism and visitor visas, reflecting the success of initiatives to facilitate visitor entry to the Kingdom. Continuous improvements in infrastructure, transportation, and digital services have also contributed to enhancing the experience and facilitating the movement of pilgrims from the moment they arrive until the completion of their rituals.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced that more than 2.5 million pilgrims have registered since the beginning of the Umrah season until the end of Safar 1447 AH. According to the ministry's data, the number of pilgrims entering the Kingdom with Umrah visas rose to more than 1.7 million, a 38% increase compared to the same period last year. Umrah visas issued also increased by more than 33%, while the total growth in the number of pilgrims across various visas exceeded 10%.
An advanced system to serve the guests of God
These results are part of the Kingdom's efforts under Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes serving pilgrims by developing innovative solutions and flexible procedures that meet the aspirations of Muslims around the world. The relevant authorities have launched several digital programs that facilitate reservation and permit issuance procedures, in addition to enhancing transportation and accommodation services in Makkah and Madinah.
Positive impact on religious tourism
This growth in the number of pilgrims not only reflects increased demand for performing the rituals, but also underscores the Kingdom's growing role as a global destination for religious tourism. This momentum is expected to support the tourism and local economy sectors, opening new horizons for investments in the hospitality and services sectors.
Thus, the Umrah season continues to consolidate its position as one of the most important religious seasons in the world, as the Kingdom continues to enhance its capacity to receive millions of visitors annually and provide a comprehensive spiritual experience befitting its status as a destination for Muslims.
